Let’s make GMAT, EA & GRE prep simple

You don’t need to quit working or take time off for your exam. 12-14 weeks, starting with around 15 hrs/wk (~2 hrs a day) and then ramping up to about 25 hrs/wk, is generally what it takes to go from “oh man! I had forgotten my basic math and comprehension” to being competitive at the exam.

The exam concepts are relatively basic, but they require a deep understanding to tackle nuanced questions effectively. So lets dumb it down for us. This is not just a math and English test—it is a deductive test designed to assess your problem-solving skills. Without thorough knowledge and the ability to apply it, the test can easily trip you up.

Our Unique Approach

Translate / Visualize

According to research, when we can translate and visualize a problem, we can find patterns that assist us solve it. The visualization strategy varies from person to person; I try to draw it out, some tabulate it, and yet others write equations; if we can figure out our best approach, we can translate the problem easily

Figure Out Best Approach

If you can step back after translation and spend about 20 seconds assessing the best approach, you may realize that there is irrelevant information in the question that you can disregard, or you may begin removing answer choices - deduction rather than calculation.

Deduce the Solution

Once the approach is clear, solving the problem should take around 40-50 seconds. GMAT questions are designed to be solved efficiently, and no problem should take more than 2 minutes to solve with the right method.

Kaizen test

The Kaizen approach involves continuous improvement—take over 10 mock exams to identify recurring issues. After recognizing weaknesses, fix them, then test again. This iterative process builds progress and helps pinpoint areas for improvement.

Personalize Your Prep

12-14 weeks, starting with around 15 hrs/wk (~2 hrs a day) and then ramping up to about 25 hrs/wk, is generally what it takes to go from “oh man! I had forgotten my basic math and comprehension” to being competitive at the exam.

Overall

Work through enough problems to build confidence in your abilities. By exam day, you should feel assured in your preparation, which helps reduce anxiety and improves performance.

I can’t recommend Latamba and Shu highly enough! After struggling with my GMAT/EA prep despite attending another course, Shu’s unique approach completely changed the game for me—literally. He helped me realize that these tests are just like a game: with the right strategies and practice, you can keep improving. This shift in mindset not only boosted my performance but also strengthened my confidence.

Beyond test prep, Shu played a crucial role in crafting a strong application strategy for Round 1, which ultimately led to my acceptance at Columbia, NYU, and Darden. I was also fortunate to receive a significant financial aid package from Columbia.

Shu’s guidance, expertise, and encouragement were invaluable throughout the process. If you’re looking for a mentor who truly cares about your success and has the knowledge to get you there, Latamba is the place to go

can’t speak highly enough of Shu as a GMAT tutor. I started my GMAT prep journey with both TTP and e-GMAT, but found myself stuck and overwhelmed. As someone with ADHD, structured programs alone weren’t quite enough for me—I needed a more adaptable, one-on-one approach that understood my learning challenges. That’s exactly what Shu provided, and the results speak for themselves: he took me from a 475 to a 655, and I genuinely believe I couldn’t have achieved this without him.

What makes Shu unique is his problem-solving approach. He doesn’t just teach you formulas or test strategies; he teaches you how to think. Instead of forcing me into a one-size-fits-all mold, Shu took the time to understand my strengths and struggles, tailoring his techniques in ways that would work specifically for me. He taught me strategies to stay focused, ways to break down complex questions, and methods to approach problems without getting overwhelmed. Shu’s approach is methodical yet flexible—he adjusted our sessions based on how I was feeling, tackling my problem areas while always building up my confidence.

Beyond the GMAT, Shu has been more than just a tutor. He’s become a mentor and friend, someone who truly believes in my potential. He was always there to motivate me on my tough days and celebrated my wins, big or small. Shu isn’t just committed to helping his students achieve high scores; he’s committed to helping them believe in themselves. If you’re looking for a tutor who can meet you where you are, understand your challenges, and inspire you every step of the way, I couldn’t recommend Shu more. He’s someone I’ll always be grateful to have had in my corner

I reached out to Shu in mid March, panicked because I was getting around a 625 on GMAT Fe and needed to pull it up to a 685/695 by the first week of April. I had talked to a very reputed gmat private tutoring firm just before I saw Shu’s Reddit post and they had said that I should aim for a 655 and that would be “miraculous” enough in 3 weeks. I was disheartened and scared.

On my first call with Shu he told me nothing is impossible and that if I put in the work, he guaranteed I could have a 50-60 point jump in 3 weeks. During the three weeks, Shu helped me target my weakest areas, including verbal. I went from hating my verbal section to loving it. I ended up with a 695 and I would credit that to Shu’s guidance and optimism. He has been an incredible teacher, inspiration, mentor, and friend and I’m so happy I came across his Reddit post.

I would highly recommend Shu to those who are willing to put in the time and effort to learn and are passionate about getting a high score.

I am still in the application process but Shu has been kind enough to guide me through the process....

Best GMAT Tutor/ Friend/Mentor

Not only my gmat tutor but also my life mentor. Met Shu when I was desperately struggling with a low quant score. He put up with me through all my stupid questions, I was hopeless with my quant, helped me figure out the best way to do the exam and got me all the up to a 710 (from a 580) much more than what my school wanted.

However, he did not end it there I got into my MSc program in Melbourne but he convinced me to apply to NYU and I got in - he helped me with the applications/essay and the works! Yeay! I owe it all to him!

GMAT as Shu says is about how well you can do the exam and Shu is the best at teaching this!

I had the pleasure of working with Shu who went above and beyond to help me achieve my goal score. I had been preparing for a few months and was struggling to improve my quant score any further. Shu tailored our sessions to maximize efficiency and focus on areas where I needed the most improvement.

His approach was not only comprehensive but also personable, making each session both productive and enjoyable. Thanks to his strategies and insights, I was able to get a substantial score improvement in just about 2 weeks.

I wholeheartedly recommend Shu to anyone seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable GMAT tutor, and MBA app review.

Wonderful tutor. I came in being clueless about quant and Shu went through his very detailed lesson plans with me, which is what I needed since I was lacking foundational principles. Ended up in the 700’s thanks to him
